Q: Do you rent or sell wedding dresses?
A:  There are several reasons why we no longer rent wedding gowns. During our sample sales, many of our retired designs are available at a fraction of the purchase price. Sample sale gown prices range from $99 to $349. Bring your mom, friend or both and come see these amazing gowns.

Q: Do I need an appointment?
A: You do not need an appointment for tuxedo rental fittings or formal dress purchasing. We DO recommend that you set appointments for wedding gown purchasing, especially during March and April, so we can arrange to devote our full attention to you. Your private appointments are generally available on Saturdays between 3 and 5 p.m., if you need to schedule during another time of the week please let us know. We are happy to arrange outside-of-hours appointments as needed. Then, please be sure to arrive promptly, as we do not keep our scheduled brides waiting.  Walk-in's may be asked to wait,r may need to be patient with interruptions, especially during school dance seasons.

Wear the undergarments and bring the shoes that you plan to use on your wedding day. If you haven't yet decided on the shoes, bring a pair that have your favorite heel height. We can order your bridal shoes when you decide on the gown. Formals and bridal gowns do not fit like street clothing and require a bustier to ensure that they fit correctly. You will want to bring a bustier for your gown if you have one. We do offer bustiers, corsets and slimmers to rent or purchase.

Please do not wear heavy makeup at your appointment, or if you intend to try on our formal dresses. We will supply you with the means to remove it before trying on our gowns. Our most popular bridal samples tend to sell off the rack and must be kept in excellent condition. This will greatly cut down our dry-cleaning costs, and enable us to offer cleaner gowns at much more affordable prices. If you damage, or heavily soil one of our gowns with food, excessive makeup, dirt, etc. it will be your responsibility to either pay for the gown or the dry-cleaning (think "you break it you buy it") at our discretion. We also require that girls 15 or younger be accompanied by their parent/guardian when trying on dresses, to help prevent damage to our inventory. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation.

Bridesmaids fittings are always scheduled separately from the bridal appointment. If you have chosen your colors, we will show you our bridesmaid options after you have chosen your gown, and begin your bridesmaids registry.

Q: Why can't I bring more than one guest to my bridal appointment?
A: We love spoiling our brides with personal, one on one attention during their private appointment. To ensure that our brides receive the best quality assistance we can offer, with a minimum of distraction, we limit the appointment exclusively to the bride and one guest. We have found in the past that when the bride brings more than one friend, it becomes incredibly difficult for her to find the style that suits her personality and figure the best. Well-meaning friends may try to help by suggesting styles they like to the bride. Unfortunately, rather than help, this causes confusion and stress, leaving the bride either purchasing a gown she secretly hates, or unable to make the decision at all. When choosing your guest, consider one who can really be objective and most helpful. If your best friend is not afraid to tell you that green makes you look like the creature from the black lagoon, for example, she would be the one to bring!  Fathers are always welcome.

Q: Do you rent tuxedos? What about suits, bridesmaids and other formals?
A: We rent tuxedos AND suits from Jim's Formalwear and Ascot Formals, and we also have our own line of Prince Edward Tuxedos for rent. Our prices range from $54.95 to $129.95 for the complete tuxedo with vest and tie. Shoes run $20-25. Tuxedos are due back the next business day to avoid the late charge of $50 per day, unless another arrangement is made with us at time of order. Sorry, we do not accept phone orders, you must come in person to the shop to order tuxedos and pieces. Rush tuxedo or accessory orders from our suppliers (within 2 weeks of your event) will incur rush charges, see shop for details. Our Prince Edward tuxedos are available for last minute needs; limited to instock selection only.

We now have a selection of formals for rent, they are marked as such. All other gowns in our shop are for sale only. We do offer a small consignment selection; consignment terms are 30 days. We do not buy or trade gowns outright off the street. We accept pre-owned gown donations that fit the same criteria as our consignment gowns; these gowns also benefit our chosen charities.

Q: Can I get my dress altered? What about custom dresses and sewing?
A: Strap adjustments, sides, hems, and other minor alterations are still available on gowns purchased from us as our schedule allows. PLEASE allow 2 weeks for your bridal alteration work to be done (up to 4 weeks during peak school dance seasons). Please see our posted alterations policy in the shop for further details, and be aware that by having us alter your garment you agree to that policy. We do not take in outside gowns at all. We do not do custom dresses, alterations or mending of any kind on any casualwear or formals. We have recently scoured Tooele for good seamstresses and can now recommend a few whom we feel you can trust your garment with; of course, you are solely responsible for the risk involved with contracting alterations. We can not be held liable in any way for the work on your garment done by any outside seamstress. We DO still offer military-only patch sewing, in support of our servicemen and women (not available during March and April).

Q: What about my flowergirl and ringbearer?
A: We offer a great selection of boy's tuxedos and white suits for rent, and girls' dresses available to buy, all the way down to christening/blessing clothing for sale. We have a great in-stock selection of communion/LDS baptism dresses too. All in all we have over a hundred children's dresses available to order! Please allow up to 4 weeks for these to arrive when ordered.

Q: Do you offer LDS temple dresses for sealings?
A: We no longer carry everyday basic temple dresses; however most of our modest wedding gowns are temple-ready. We also have white boy's suits for rent, and white dresses for girls available to purchase.
Q: How soon will it get here?
A: Most of our formal vendors have a three week turn-around, but please try to allow 6-12 weeks for your dress to arrive. Our bridal designers custom create your gown to your measuremments, so please allow up to 12 weeks for your gown or item to arrive. We do not charge extra special order fees* on anything you get from the catalogs, just shipping which runs $5-$20 per item (up to $100 for express wedding gown shipping). Contact us by email or come by the shop for details on your particular item. If needed we can certainly have something Overnighted if the manufacturer has it available, there is an extra shipping charge for this service.

*Our bridal designers do charge fees for Rush Cuts and other options, see store for details. There is a factory dye fee of $7 on custom shoes.

Q: I need to be measured, but the wedding is somewhere else. Do you do that?

A: Our bridal clients are measured when they place their deposit on their gown order with us, because our most of our bridals are cut to those exact custom measurements. We do not offer bridal measurements for girls who plan to purchase elsewhere, because each manufacturer requires different numbers.

We DO offer complete formal measurements for general women's formals/bridesmaids at a charge of $50 per person. That charge is applied towards the cost of their dress if they purchase it from us. However, we recommend that you get measured by the same shop that will be ordering your dress so they can work with you from beginning to end. We are not liable for mistakes made by outside vendors/companies that use the measurements we give you, as we can not guarantee those companies' accuracy or procedures.

For tuxedos, be sure to bring the name, address, and telephone number for the out of town shop so we can call them with those measurements. You are also welcome to take the measurements on paper. We do charge a very small fee (under $6) for tuxedo measuring, as do most tuxedo shops.

We also offer "tech support" with the tuxedo measurements we take. We use the industry standard method for measuring (99% of tuxedo shops across the nation use this). If the other shop needs assistance, PLEASE have them call us immediately so we can give them the proper equivalent numbers according to their vendor. We keep tuxedo measurements on file for 30 days.

Please keep in mind also that with ANY tuxedo rental, the companies will only send the CLOSEST fitting pieces they have to those measurements, and adjustments may still have to be made, usually pant hemming. They are NEVER custom fit to your exact measurements.

Q: The guys in my line can't try on the tuxedos. What now?

A: Hopefully you are good with a needle and thread. Even with correct measurements an occasional adjustment may need to be made. Many times the trousers simply need to be hemmed. However, we won't know til it is tried on.

We REQUIRE that the guys try on the tuxedos within 24 hours of arrival at our shop  so we can make any necessary adjustments or order replacement pieces. We MUST be given the opportunity to do this and it is in your best interest to make sure the guys set aside the time. You are spending money on a very important event and trying the tuxedos on is the only way to make sure you are getting your money's worth. If you choose to take the tuxedos without trying them on we are not liable in any way for the fit and no discounts or refunds will be given. Period. We are however available outside of hours to meet with your groomsmen, so that they have the opportunity to try the tuxedos on.

Q: My event was cancelled. Can I get a refund?

A: No. The bridal and formal industry is completely different than street retail such as Wal-Mart. Formal and special occasion clothing are much more delicate and complicated in construction, and are usually customized to your measurements. Therefore, all of our shop and special order sales are final. If you special order a gown and the event is cancelled, we will share tears with you but the dress is yours to keep or dispose of. You will be responsible for paying the full balance of any special ordered dress or gown when it arrives. We do not resell bridals or formals for our customers. All gowns and items are sold in "as-is" condition, please check your item before purchasing. Discontinued/clearance dresses may have noticeable imperfections, hence the extremely low price. Please see your receipt or special order form for further details.

We can not offer refunds or exchanges on any merchandise or rentals. Tuxedo orders from Jim's are subject to a 50% cancellation charge once the order has been placed but has not yet been shipped. If the tuxedo has been shipped, or arrives at our shop and you choose to not pick it up for any reason, no refund can be given and the full rental amount will be due if it has not yet been paid.

We can not be responsible for subjective taste or the opinions of others regarding our styles; if you rent or purchase a particular style, approve the fit and take it home, and a friend or family member does not like it, no refunds will be given. Please see our company policies on the About Us page for more details.
